We are based in the beautiful rural village of Nayland but only 10 minutes away from Colchester and 30 minutes from Sudbury
We take Government funding to help working parents and Universal Funding when your child turns three
You can help with the cost by using the Government’s Child tax free scheme
We are flexible with sessions and do not inforce a minimum amount of sessions.
We offer breakfast and afterschool care from 8am till 5pm and 4.30pm on Fridays.
We offer holiday clubs (in school holidays).
Our staff are all extremely experienced and most have their own children. We have two level 6 teacher status
We work to great ratios 1-4 for two year olds and 1-8 for 3 to 11 year olds
We take Nayland Primary School children down to school at the start of a school day
We have external teachers come in to teach Yoga, Multisports and Forest School
As we are a registered charity, we have a group of Parents (Trustees) who oversee the running of Woodland Corner and help to fundraise
The fundraising money we make goes towards buying more resources for the children
Children help to decide what the fundraising money is spent on
Children help plan the themes, using their current interests
Children help to decide on the menu for breakfast and afterschool club
We work in partnership with families to provide the best care and education for your child/ren.
We prepare children for moving on to school by offering ‘ready for school PE sessions’, ‘Learner Gang’ ‘dressing up in all the local schools uniforms’, ‘Letters and Sounds curriculum’, visits to join Cygnet class at Nayland Primary for story time’ and using the grounds if the school to get them used to the surrounding area including the school woods
We do a baseline assessment when your child starts with us (with their Key Person) and yourself. We work with you to provide Next Steps in their Learning Journey. We also write a End of Year report that goes to you and their new school teacher.
We have fun activities such as Easter Egg Hunt, Teddy Bears Picnic, Grandparents Day, Dad’s Stay and Play, Sports Day, Graduation Celebration and Class Photographer and Christmas Party to name a few!
We are inclusive to all families and have a list of Policies and Procedures for you to view
Staff keep their Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene up to date
Staff complete courses of interest to help their CPD
We work with advisers at Suffolk County Council to keep our knowledge up to date
We have a dedicated SENDCo who is happy to meet with you
