Forest School – April ’25

3 April 2025

This week at Forest School we were inspired by visitors at the school this week; a ewe and her lamb! We had a walk through the woodland, stopping to look, notice and listen. With our afternoon group we were allowed to visit to look at the sheep, what a treat! Following this we discovered our magic box and shared its content; sheep! “Where is the Green Sheep?” By Mem Fox and Judy Horacek is a funny book all about these fluffy friends. A great story to share before exploring the activities on offer this week.

A farm theme sensory tray was very popular, with different cereals as haystacks, walls and mud; and plenty of farm animals to play with. We had a muddy mess with pigs wallowing and a shallow bath for them to be washed in. Farm vehicles with mud and paper to make tyre tracks, which led to muddy handprints! The tent, hammock, spring sensory tray, den, chalks, sand, balancing logs, ribbons, pebble pictures and natural loose parts play all returned from last week.

In addition the children could make sheep pictures with cork stamps and look for the green sheep that were hidden all over the glade. There was lots of fantastic tree climbing, so much exploring and great use of imagination!
