Forest School – September ’24
12 September 2024
Forest school returns for the Autumn term! I really enjoyed welcoming everyone back and meeting the new little ones.
This week we walked through the woodland, enjoying the sights, smells, different textures and finding interesting things along the way. We gathered some leaves and found our magic box!
When we returned to the log circle we opened the magic box to find lots of leaves! Different types and colours from trees in the woodland and beyond. Among them was a person made of leaves, little leaf hands and feet with some googly eyes. We shared the story of “Leaf Man” before we explored the offerings at Forest School today.
Today the children could explore activities including Leaf pictures, making their own Leaf puppets and cutting leaves to make confetti. There was leaf colour sorting, our minibeast laboratory and colour paddles to explore colour mixing.
Our book tent had lots of autumn and woodland theme books with some cuddly friends to play with. There was a hammock, balancing logs, streamers, natural resource threading and sticky boards to decorate.
In the morning group we could paint and print with leaves and in the afternoon some cinnamon spiced playdough.
What a wonderful first day back! So much fun was had exploring, playing, being curious and above all being wild and free!
Looking forward to next week!
