Latest News (Pre-School) – April ’25

- Daffodils Free Painting – Together we looked and smelt the daffodils. We learnt that the long green part is called the “stem” and the flower head is called “Petals and Trumpet” We painted our own version of a daffodil.
- For Shrove Tuesday Magda made us all a delicious pancake! And we had themed play in the classroom/garden.
- Spring Art – Daisies – The children created a fun and a simple daisy art using different colour paint, a paintbrush, stamps and a pencil. This is perfect for creativity, talking about spring, hand-eye coordination and patience.
- Map of Europe – We looked at the map and talked about countries, traditions, languages, capitals and currencies.
- Bee Craft – We learnt a few facts about bees and how important they are to us.
- National Storytelling Week – We imagined having a camel as a pet. Dear Zoo is one of the children favourite books. We discussed the story and we all sent a letter “to the Zoo” asking for a pet. In this activity we talked about sizes, animals and learnt how to be patient waiting our turn. On World Book Day we brought our favourite books in from home to share with our friends.
- Sharing-Caring PSED – Introducing our golden rules to encourage sharing and taking turns through play with games such as lotto, snap and dancing together -Row your boat, hold hands and make a ring. The children also painted a picture of a chosen adults or peer to acknowledge and celebrate our fantastic role models at Woodland Corner.
- Music session – Music and movement activities help children to remember patterns and lyrics. Through music, they can improve their language or learn a different language. Music can encourage creativity and problem-solving skills. Music helps them to refine their ability to listen. Through music, they develop social skills such as sharing, cooperation and teamwork. Music stimulates creativity and imagination.
- A few times a week we have some ‘Two are Special’ time with just our youngest children. This aids their Speech and Language development as well as turn taking skills.
- We also have some ‘Time to Talk sessions’ and a Speech and Language group to encourage speech and conversational skills.
- On Monday 31st March we invited a special lady in our lives to come and play and have tea and biscuits to celebrate Mother’s Day.
- On Wednesday the 2nd April we had a Yoga session in the afternoon with Katie.
- On Wednesday the 2nd April we took part in an Easter egg hunt in the woods with our special grown up and the Cygnet class at Nayland.
- On Thursdays, children have continued to enjoy Forest School with Laura Ladybird.
- On Friday children have continued to enjoy Multi Sports.
