June 2026
18 June 2026
This term at pre-school we are learning about families with visits from younger siblings and grandparents for us to expand our knowledge. We have made a display with pictures from when we were babies and have had great fun playing “guess the baby”. Our Road Safety was a very useful and important topic as the children have reiterated the basic road safety rules and have been heard asking their parents to hold their hand while they’re out. We practiced walking over the school’s Zebra crossing and know to look out for Toucan/Pelican and Zebra crossings when crossing the road.
We are incredibly fortunate that during our ‘People who help us’ topic Rix farm visited us with a tractor and showed us some crops for us to talk about how they grow and what can be made with them; we also had visits from a doctor, builder, a nurse & midwife, a cardiac nurse, paramedic and police officers (and car!).
Our transition activities for the children moving on to reception are well underway with them practicing getting changed for PE, trying on school uniform and Learner Gang. We are looking forward to the reception teachers from many different schools coming to visit us and taking the children going to Nayland for story time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Kingfisher class at Nayland have been coming up to read to the children and some of them will be there buddies in September!
Our garden has been enhanced with the delivery of a new car and the children are enjoying role playing being the driver and passengers on all sorts of journeys. Thank you Joe for the time and resources used to make this for us.
When we had ‘pet week’ as a topic we had two dogs come to visit us. We learnt lots of facts about looking after pets and enjoyed stroking them.
This week we have Fathers day morning, where a special gentleman has been invited to come and play. This ties in nicely with the World Cup and we will be putting our England flags out and the older children are completing the score wallchart.
We were pleased to welcome Forest School sessions back again at Woodland Corner. Anna is our new teacher and she is completing her Forest School training by delivering weekly sessions this term.
On Saturday the 13th we held a special wellbeing session for our staff, giving everyone the opportunity to relax, recharge, and focus on their own wellbeing. Emma has now completed ten years service at Woodland Corner!
During the the week of the 15th June, we are walking/running lots of laps of the running track (on the school field) for our Toddle waddle Sponsored walk. We are raising funds for acoustic rafts to help with the sound reverberation in the main classroom.
On the 26th June we are all going to enjoy a day at the beach with our friends!
Monday the 29th June we are holding our annual sports day and all parents/carers welcome (bring your trainers lol).
Last but not least we say goodbye to our 2026 leavers by holding a graduation ceremony celebrating their time at Woodland Corner.
